Japanese Ab Initio
The problem
The school offered Japanese Ab Initio SL, but there was no curriculum behind it — no scope, no sequence, no assessments, no resources. It had to be built from nothing.
What I built
A full two-year scope and sequence for Grades 11 and 12, along with the assessments and resources to teach it.
Rather than marching through grammar points in the order a textbook offers them, the course is structured as a thematic journey across Japan. Each stage of the journey carries its own cultural content, and that content is mapped onto the IB language objectives instead of sitting alongside them as decoration.
